Prof. M. Fatih CAN, MD

Prof. M. Fatih Can MD, graduated as a General Surgery Specialist in 2006 from Gülhane Military Medical Academy, Department of General Surgery, which he entered as a specialty student in 2002 after receiving his Doctor of Medicine degree from Gazi University Faculty of Medicine.

During his military service in Ardahan Military Hospital, he performed surgeries related to his field, published scientific studies, and held administrative positions. M. Fatih Can, MD, who also worked in Bosnia and Herzegovina for a while during this period, became a faculty member with the title of Assistant Professor in the Department of General Surgery at Gülhane Military Medical Academy in June 2009.

In 2011 and 2012, he conducted professional development and clinical research activities for a total of 15 months at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (Pittsburgh), BIDMC Harvard Medical School (Boston) in the USA, and ASAN Medical Center University of Ulsan College of Medicine (Seoul) in South Korea, especially on laparoscopic-robotic liver, pancreas and gastrointestinal system surgery and liver transplantation.

In December 2012, he received the title of University Associate Professor and continued his duty at Gülhane Military Medical Academy, Department of General Surgery, Gastroenterological Surgery Unit.

As of early 2019, he left his position at the Gülhane Faculty of Medicine, University of Health Sciences. In May 2019, he was promoted to Professor and worked at Lokman Hekim University Faculty of Medicine and Lokman Hekim Akay Hospital between 2019-2021.

He is currently accepting patients in his private clinic in Çankaya Söğütözü district.

He is a member of the Turkish Surgical Qualification Board and a former Board Member of the Turkish Liver-Pancreas Surgery Association.

He is Turkey’s first “European Liver-Pancreas Surgery Qualification Certificate” holder. This certificate was obtained by ranking first among the doctors participating from 12 European countries in the exam organized in Germany.
